“When you use the discipline of mind and body that you have developed through your Martial Arts to succeed in life then you are following the path of Bushido and are truly a martial artist”.
1. No shoes to be worn on the Dojo (training hall) floor.
2. You must bow before entering or leaving the Dojo floor.
3. Un-graded students may wear loose comfortable clothing, graded students should wear their graded belt and a GI (karate uniform) appropriate to their rank.
4. No jewellery to be worn during class. (Bushido crosses excepted.) No t-shirts or singlets etc. to be worn under Gi’s (karate uniform) ladies excepted.
5. When putting on or removing belt students should kneel on their right knee.
6. No smoking, drinking or foul language in Dojo.
7. If arriving late to class, wait at edge of floor until acknowledged by instructor.
8. Instructor to be addressed by correct teaching rank during class. eg: Sempai, Sensei etc.
(Note: this is not required outside the Dojo).
9. During class keep your focus up and centred and maintain your stances until told to “shake it off” by instructor. You should maintain your discipline at all times, this includes no unnecessary talking or movement.
(Remember the way you train is the way you react!)
10. If you need to leave the Dojo floor wait to be acknowledged before leaving, then wait to be acknowledged before re-entering the class.
11. During training students should be aware of their level of intensity of training and ensure it is at an appropriate level when partnered with another student, taking into consideration the other students' rank and ability.
12. Have respect for each other during sparring, with No Contact on ladies or juniors. Students trying to “bully'' others during sparring will not be tolerated.
13. All students are to wear protective equipment during sparring - mouthguard, hand mitts and shin/instep protectors.
14. Monthly fees are to be paid before the 20th of each month. It is an affront to instructors teaching if you have to be constantly reminded about them.
